No problem to have two countries India and Pakistan, Imagine if Pak was a part of India, compare it with current Pak, horrible. Most of the regions will be beyond the control of the government. religious leaders will be ruling the parts with their own policies, fatwa against bollywood, lots of things.
But the main reason behind partition is Jinnah and Nehru, both needed power. More clearly it can be said as Jinnah's stubbornness lead to partition. But the suggestion made by Gandhi to avoid partition was, to make every ministers of the Parliament Muslims, and Jinnah as the PM. But Nehru was in the opinion that already riot had started, if they make all the ministers Muslims, Hindus will feel left out. So Nehru didn't agree.
Anyway the debate still goes on, but one thing is sure, freedom was achieved not that much easier as we imagine, so we should not blame any of the, leaders including, Jinnah or Nehru. And no need to drag Gandhi into this matter as he was the person who was very much upset about the partition.
The country is already divided and the relationship between the two are worse, and getting more worser.
But the true patriot like Gandhi and all will not like the partition. He was on a fasting on the day of India Pakistan partition. He did not participate in the freedom celebrations. Only those who struggled for the freedom only knows the value of freedom. As a coin has two sides, the partition has both advantage and disadvantage. For a person like me who lives in post partition era likes the partition. This may be because, I know the situation in resent Pakistan, which never had any great opportunity during partition and they never tried to create any opportunity for the development of that country after the partition.

as far as i'm thinking partition of india & pak was right because muslims relisions have got there seperate area & hindu has got there seperate area.

I agree with your last comment that now things in Pakistan look really ugly.
But I am not so sure about your earlier assessment. It will be not right to equate attitude of Jinnah and Nehru. I feel Jinnah was quite unreasonable. Finally Is it not clear that he had very little really to do with Muslim sentiment. He used just the slogans of Muslim nation to become powerful.
Even in current terror turmoil do you not feel the situation is same. Pakistani army top and feudal rulers are using in the same way Muslim sentiment to create turmoil now not just in India but in their own country as well as in West (practically in whole world).
USA finds itself quite a bit helpless today and is unable to see a path clearly just as we perhaps were than (still are?).
But let us hope USA as well as us will come out of it stronger. After all internal strength helps and not internal weakness with which Pakistan is suffering. We are indeed better of to be away from them - though we are not that far of too.One has to be careful.
Nehru or for that matter practically all Hindus and some Muslims too never had such a sadistic and destructive attitude.
Gandhi was of course very different person, quite amazing.
I dont see much difference b/w India, Bangladesh or Pakistan.... Its just the number & class of UPPER class! Middle & Poor has almost same situations. Though some like to point fingers without self assessment. Pakistan is for sure coming out of this so called chaos & 'ugly' situation with the same intensity as it got in.

Partition of greater india was a blunder.india is a land of diversities.if we go dividing india some 30 nations will emerge here. I feel that the land between himalayas and indian ocean should be one country

We all know the history of Partition. Why and how and by whom it happened we all know. Its needless to mention history here. What matters is, Today we are divided, And so let it be. They (Pakistanis) wanted a separate nation, They got it. And we (Indian Muslims) wanted to stay on our beloved holy soil of India, So did we !!! Everything is fine uptill this. But... When these Pakistanis even after getting a separate nation tries to disturb us, Create nuisance in our country's interests, It obviously irks. You all have got a separate nation, Be happy with that. Why do you bother so much about us?? Instead of taking so much interest on Kashmir, It would be better for you Pakistanis to solve the Balochistan Issue. Non-interference on each others' affairs is the key to settle the 64 years long dispute...which resulted only in casualties & nothing else !!! Glorify your nation, we have no problem with that. But stop peeping, irking or poking nose or sending terrorists into India !!! The choice is simple for Pakistanis ..... Live & prosper in peace, Or bring self destruction by messing with India !!! Because, You must be knowing... If your Pakistan is great, India is much greater. Hope Allah will bless Pakistanis with intellect one day to realize it.
I agree that the partition is a done deal, unfortunately. But, if the two Germanies can unite, so can India / Pak / bangla come back together. Unncessary waste of billions of dollars in defence, administration, red tape etc. With Pakistan close to being a failed state and Bangla's democracy teetering (witness the recent coup attempt!), who knows, the average people might raise up ande demand re-unification. I think India's constitution must be amended to make room for this re-unification and leave it to the people of the two nations (Pak and Bangla) to decide if they want to merge into India.
i am a Pakistani , and i personally feel that Pakistan must be integrated to India much like Germany did. i mean just imagine it will solve the problem of Kashmir at-least.
We Indians dont want to unite with Pakistan ever !!! We have difference of mentality. Let Pakistan live on its own as a separate country. The country which has been born as a result of hatred, the country whose evil intentions in the name of religion has consistently led to martyrdom of many brave sons of this soil.... should never be allowed to unite with India. Yes Iam proud to be a Muslim, But we have a difference with Pakitani Muslims !!! Along with Muslim, We are Indian also, And an enemy of our soil is our enemy !!!

sir maine bachpan me pada tha ki ek galat admi pure desh aur mashab ko badnam karta hai. apki baaton se aisa he lag raha hai. apke news channel wale bolte hai pakistan ne india me teriorist bheje; ap khud bataea kya jo eske peeche siyasat chalti hai uska hamare logo ko pata hota hai kya .. muje pata hai ki desh merge nai ho sakte . reason being germany me ek he mashab ke log hai jo reunite ho gae par hamare yahan log mashab k nam pe ladte hai ..

I agree things dont look good in Pakistan today as compared to India.But we should remember that India did not have to deal with 2 invasions of Afghanistan for appx. 20 years.
If it was not for the Soviet & US invasions of Afghanistan,Pakistan would have been in a much much better state today.

You are right, the partition was a good thing. Not to mention, we won't have the legendary India Pakistan matches if there had been no partition.
